Our not so little rainbow, Sulivan, was born yesterday at 1:10pm after a three hour labour, weighing a really chunky 9lb 2oz!
My hind waters went at 8:30am and were a really nasty green brown colour. Private MW was sure it would be the evening primrose oil capsules I'd been using, but I knew it was meconium. She called her backup as she was at an appointment but we decided to head to the hospital instead, and I'm glad we did. Arrived at the hospital at 10:10am, first proper contraction at 10:45am after he's given me a huge very painful kick which kick started the contractions. My MW arrived at about 11:45am and although she couldn't act as a MW by being in the hospital, it was lovely to have her as a birth partner, as well as hubby.
The hospital midwives were good but they didn't realise quite how far along I was, I had to tell them twice and my MW confirm that he wasn't far off his appearance. Our MW, hubby and I were saying between contractions at 12:55pm, wondering when baby would be born. OH said within an hour but MW didn't want to say as baby had proved her wrong on everything! I was having a piece of chocolate for energy and half way through, with chocolate still in my mouth I felt a contraction coming, so had the remainder in one hand, g&a in the other and the almighty urge to push came on, and he was born 15 minutes later, a couple of minutes after I relinquished the chocolate to OH!
