Hollie update xx

Hi everyone. Thank you for thinking of us.

Hollie has been doing well, taking full feeds, no oxygen support etc. I thought we were getting somewhere until last Tuesday when we were dealt horrible news that Hollie had stage 3 retinopathy of prematurity and needed eye surgery as a matter of urgency in order to try and stop her going blind :( she had the operation under general anesthetic and was put on a ventilator. This upset me as it was such a huge step backwards and sometimes they take ages to wean off the vent. Hollie had other ideas and was try to pull the vent tube out as soon as she woke from the anesthetic so it was removed straight away. The surgeon is one of the best in the country so that is good to know, he checked her eyes on Monday and said they were looking ok but were cloudy so I had to take her off the ward and down to his clinic to have a better look. Que people staring at her in this busy clinic and asking me if she was born last night etc, couldn't be bothered to make conversation and say actually she is three months old, I just wanted people to leave us alone and not breathe germs on her lol! Anyway he says the cloudiness is just bleeding from op and should dissapear but I have to take her again next Tuesday. I pray that her eyes will be ok, he did say she might have a slightly enlarged pupil in one eye but I would take that if it means her eyesight is saved.

Fast forward to Xmas eve, less than a week after surgery and look what I got to take home :)
