Do private scans inform you of abnormalities?

I'm thinking of having a private scan at 16ish weeks. Mainly for gender and my peace of mind, but I was wondering if they looked for abnormalities during these scans? If they find anything do they inform your hospital?

Obviously I am so terrified of something being wrong... Surely if something abnormal was glaringly obvious they wouldn't just ignore it would they?
