Hi all. Proud as punch to announce the arrival of charlie hanmer born weds 9/7/14 at 5.12am weighing a healthy but tinyblooking 9lbs 8.5oz!!
So i last spoke to you when i was on the labour ward being induced but waiting for a bed on delivery suite. I spent monday night and all of tuesday there waiting and was only taken to delivery suite at 2am on weds morning. Was tolddownstairs that i was still only 3cm so was not even allowed gas and air even though i was in agony. Minutes later when i finally got my bed on delivery suite i was examined and told i was 6cm and waters bulging (i know i was def more than 3cm downstairs to be in the pain i was in but they just couldnt find me a bed!) It was plain sailing from then though. Got my epidural in by 2.30am, waters broken and was 10cm by 4.30am. Had time to let his head descend but needed to push by 5am. 10 minutes of pushing later and my gorgeous boy was welcomed into the world!! We had a quick cuddle before he was taken by the specialist pediatrician to check him over following the bad amnio results. I busied myself with the delivery of the placenta then craig was allowed to carry him back over to me.
He placed him in my arms and said here mummy hes got something special for you . . . And resting on his tummy was a beautifully shining diamond eternity ring!! I was stunned but he said you deserve it after everything you have been through and thanks for giving me my 2 precious boys!! Even the midwife cried!!
Was going to be discharged but 7 hours later another pediatrician checked charlie and noticed a heart murmur so we had to stay in overnight for further checks. Thankfully by morning it had corrected itself andvwe were discharged today at 2pm. We are finally back home as a family of 4 in our own beds and i couldnt be happier!!
1 more hurdle to go as they have sent placenta and cord blood to lab for chromosome testing to confirm that hes fine and we are hoping to hear results in a week or so.
P.s as many of you might remember we sadly lost my nan and gramp just 12 weeks apart last spring time. We were very close and miss them dearly. They were such a big part of our lives - my gramp was called charlie . . . Pics to follow x
